The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has announced that Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD) will return in 2025, taking place on Thursday, June 12th. The event, with the theme “Lifting Careers, Building Futures,” will address the pressing skill shortages currently facing the lifting industry, providing solutions to attract new talent and build a skilled workforce for the future.

As the lifting industry remains integral to sectors like construction, manufacturing, and logistics, many employers are grappling with difficulties in recruiting and retaining skilled workers. With recruitment challenges mounting, GLAD 2025 aims to provide actionable solutions for businesses to identify, develop, and retain top talent.

Throughout the day, LEEA and its industry partners will present a range of activities and discussions aimed at supporting employers, empowering job seekers, and encouraging industry-wide collaboration. Employers will receive insights into best practices for recruitment, apprenticeship programs, military resettlement initiatives, and interview techniques. For job seekers, the day will showcase the numerous career pathways and training opportunities within the lifting industry, offering advice on how to break into the field and advance in their careers.

In addition, GLAD 2025 will foster engagement across all sectors, encouraging stakeholders—from business leaders to training providers—to work together in building the workforce of tomorrow.

A key feature of GLAD 2025 will be a webinar hosted by LEEA CEO, Ross Moloney, and director of Membership, Matt Barber. The webinar will coincide with the release of an exclusive industry report that explores the ongoing challenges surrounding skills shortages, skills gaps, and recruitment within the sector. The report will offer valuable insights and provide businesses with actionable strategies for ensuring a sustainable, skilled workforce.

In its mission to secure the future of the lifting industry, GLAD 2025 will also serve as a launchpad for young people, career changers, and underrepresented groups to explore opportunities in the sector. Moloney emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “The skills shortage in our industry is a challenge that we must address together. GLAD 2025 provides a platform for businesses, educators, and job seekers to come together, share solutions, and shape the future of lifting. It’s time to lift careers and build futures.”

LEEA invites professionals, businesses, and training providers to join the conversation on GLAD 2025, sharing success stories, promoting career opportunities, and engaging with the wealth of resources available. To participate, follow the campaign and share stories using #GLAD2025.
