Liebherr has delivered the LHM 600 mobile harbour crane to Marcegaglia in Ravenna, Italy, which would significantly enhance the company’s logistics capabilities.
The LHM 600 crane, which marks Liebherr’s 2,000th mobile harbour crane and the sixth such crane for the Italian firm, will be used for handling steel products.
The mobile harbour crane is designed to manage ships up to New-Panamax size, focusing on steel products like coils, sheets, and strips.
Its hydrostatic drive and control systems ensure precise and efficient cargo handling, aiming to optimise overall operations.
The crane’s unique, hand-crafted slewing platform design, inspired by the maritime heritage of Rostock, Germany, and Ravenna, Italy, adds an artistic dimension to this engineering feat.
The special design of the slewing platform symbolises the innovative spirit and strong partnership between Liebherr and Marcegaglia.
It encapsulates the history and collaboration between the two entities, blending German engineering with Italian passion.
Liebherr’s partnership with Marcegaglia has been instrumental in the port’s development, since Liebherr delivered its first mobile harbour crane, an LHM 400, in 2001.
Over the years, four more cranes have been added to the fleet, each representing the enduring collaboration and shared dedication to excellence.
The latest LHM 600, the largest in the Ravenna fleet, further enhances logistics capacity.
With the new crane, Marcegaglia aims to streamline processes and support strategic goals, backed by Liebherr’s global service network for consistent maintenance and support.
Liebherr-Rostock mobile harbour cranes sales general manager Andreas Ritschel said: “This milestone LHM 600 exemplifies our commitment to delivering pioneering solutions for our customers.”
