Lootah Lemmens, a UAE-based lifting solutions provider, has delivered and installed a 175-ton overhead crane at a generator manufacturing and maintenance facility in Oman.
The crane is currently operational and plays a key role in handling large-scale generator components, ensuring safety, precision, and efficiency in the facility’s operations.
The project involved the installation of a 175-ton double girder overhead travelling crane, specifically designed to manage large generator housings, stators, and rotors.
It was executed as a full turnkey delivery, encompassing design, installation, and testing.
Lootah Lemmens engineered the crane by addressing several challenges through collaboration among engineering, fabrication, and site installation teams.
The crane features a double girder design for optimal load distribution, a heavy-duty wire rope hoist system with overload protection.
It features a precision control system with a dual-speed inverter drive for smooth operation.
It also comes with safety devices, including redundant limit switches and load cells, integrated, along with platforms for maintenance access.
The installation process required meticulous planning due to the crane’s size and weight.
Components were delivered in segments, pre-assembled on-site, and lifted into place using high-capacity mobile cranes.
The commissioning process involved no-load and full-load testing, load balance checks, operator training, safety system calibration, and the provision of manuals and maintenance schedules.
The integration of the 175-ton crane into the facility’s production and maintenance line has significantly improved the movement of large generator components.
It has reduced handling time, decreased workforce strain, enhanced safety, and increased lifting precision, while also supporting potential future expansion in generator capacity.
Lootah Lemmens, in its statement, said: “This project demonstrates Lootah Lemmens’ capability to deliver high-capacity crane systems for the most demanding industrial applications across the GCC.
“Whether you’re operating in power generation, heavy manufacturing, or infrastructure development, our team is ready to engineer, deliver, and support your lifting solution — from 1 Ton to 200+ Tons.”
