Telemotive Industrial Controls, a US manufacturer of remote control systems, has been taken over by Magnetek, a supplier of electrification and control products for the overhead material handling industry.

Telemotive supplies wireless remote controls and anti-collision systems for use on overhead cranes, hoists, monorail systems, conveyors, locomotives and other material handling applications.

Peter McCormick, executive vice president and general manager of the Magnetek Industrial Controls Group, said: “This acquisition, coupled with the Electromotive Systems and Mondel Engineering divisions of Magnetek, further strengthens our dominant position as a provider of products and services to the material handling industry.” Magnetek sales and marketing vice president Perry Pabich added: “In conjunction with our current radio control supplier, Hetronic USA, the Telemotive acquisition not only makes Magnetek one of the largest radio control suppliers serving the material handling industry in North America, but also allows us to serve additional markets, such as locomotive.” He added that Telemotive and Hetronic had different market strengths. Pabich said that the acquisition of Telemotive, rather than alienating Hetronic, would actually enable Magnetek to work more closely with Hetronic by pooling strengths where appropriate.

Telemotive will continue to operate out of Glendale Heights, Illinois as a division of Magnetek Industrial Controls.
