CE certified and conforming to European standard EN795 Class C, safewire provides a “low cost” secure fall arrest anchor line for up to three simultaneous users.

It is suitable for straight line configurations installed on either a side wall or floor/roof surface with maximum support centres of 15m.

Attachment to the life line is by a stainless steel fall arrest karabiner and passage through intermediate supports requires “minimal effort” – a simple one handed twisting movement.

A main element of the system design is the unique shock absorber. Utilising an energy dissipation technique the shock absorber minimises end loads to under 9kN in the event of a fall. The shock absorber offers a clear visual indication that the equipment has been deployed and therefore requires immediate inspection.

Manufactured completely from stainless steel the manufacturer said the safewire components are simple and easy to fix without the need for special tools.

The cost of the wire depends on the length of the system and the number of support positions, but a typical 45m system will retail at approximately £12 (Euros 17.5) per metre.

Metreel told Hoist: “There are many other systems available but generally they are more technical. For instance, the connector will automatically pass through the support position – for these systems you would usually pay around £22 (Euros 32)per metre.”
