The new version allows facilities to analyze their warehouse performance by comparing how the use of shelving and multiple types of automated storage and retrieval systems will perform.

This easy-to-use tool asks a series of questions and allows the user to compare the number of man-hours and floor space required to accommodate the facility’s needs. The tool, which includes an ROI estimator, can be used to solve questions in specific work areas and zones or total facility requirements. From manufacturing to distribution to retail applications, the tool will allow organisations to set benchmarks in performance.

The automated systems being evaluated include Horizontal and Vertical Carousels and Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs). These systems often increase productivity by two-thirds while reducing floor space requirements up to 75%. These efficiencies, plus reducing inventory levels and increasing inventory turns, often allow these systems to have an ROI (Return on Investment) in less than 18 months.

The tool is free for download (PC and MAC versions) on the MHIA website at www.mhiastore.org/category.cfm?Category=57. It is also available for order on CD at via the same link.
