It is expected that in early 2013 two of the cranes will be dismantled and swapped with the first of the new mobile cranes.
One of the cargo berths has also been rebuilt to accommodate the new mobile harbour cranes, which can handle more than 50,000t of freight a year.
Although a busy facility, as it is Guernsey’s main harbour, St Peter Port Harbour’s deputy harbour master said that there have been no major problems so far despite the challenges maintaining activity during the changes presents.
