Three of the 65t ZPMC quayside cranes were delivered to terminal operator and SSA Marine subsidiary SSA Terminals in December last year, and together with the latest arrivals will allow Terminal 18 to handle cargo on the world’s largest 18,000 TEU container vessels.

Each crane can lift to a height of 146ft (44.5m) and an outreach of 210ft (64m), allowing for nine high containers above deck and a reach of 24 containers wide.

SSA Marine CEO Jon Hemingway said: "We made this investment to continue Terminal 18 as the best destination in the Pacific Northwest for the world’s most modern and efficient ships operated by our customers. This includes two of the world’s largest container lines, Maersk and CMA, along with our partner serving Hawaii, Matson Navigation.

"No other terminal in the region comes close to Terminal 18’s size, draft and cranes, or T18’s ample on dock and nearby rail connectivity."
