Latvia-based heavy lifting equipment manufacturer RIKON has commissioned a new RMG gantry container crane at the First Dry Port Terminal in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, reported Dry Cargo International.
The crane features a maximum lifting capacity of 41 tons under the spreader and a working outreach of seven metres.
It would enhance container cargo handling in the recently expanded terminal zone.
The First Dry Port Terminal, which spans 22ha and features eight railway tracks totalling 5,300m, specialises in complex terminal services and logistics.
The terminal features a covered customs warehouse, an open customs area, customs control zones, and efficient loading and unloading facilities.
It is strategically positioned at the crossroads of international East-West and North-South transport corridors and serves as a vital logistics hub, linking Europe to Asia.
The terminal plays a key role in the historic Silk Road, providing a necessary route for goods from India, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to Europe, bypassing the Suez Canal.
RIKON’s installation of the gantry container crane is expected to expedite logistics processes at the terminal.
The move ensures enhanced performance and reliability, contributes to economic development, and improves customer service levels in the region.
