The new depot will be the below-the-hook equipment supplier’s fifth facility and its second in the south of England.
Steve Hutin, managing director at RSS, said: "The facility is strategically positioned within close proximity of a number of major projects we are already working with, in addition to a host of large national crane rental firms. We have been serving the region to some extent from Aylesford but it wasn’t feasible in the long-term to keep travelling around the M25."
The new facility marks the continuation of Hutin’s long-term plan to have ten facilities covering the UK. RSS has taken big strides towards that goal over a decade of Hutin’s ownership, opening its second facility in 2008 before subsequent ribbon-cutting ceremonies at new depots in 2011 and 2013. Plans are already happening to open another facility in northwestern England next year.
The Hayes facility will be overseen by manager Tony Teeder, who joined RSS from a major equipment rental company that is part of the GAP Group.
Teeder said: "The challenge of starting a new depot from a standing start and progressing it to a fully operational rigging equipment facility whet my appetite and I am excited about the short and long-term future."
