The centre is a terminal equipped with storage and handling service facilities for cargo of all types, including containers. It is an important import and export link in Israel.
The Boxhunter cranes are particularly well-suited to the Ashdod facility, due to the centre’s requirements for flexibility, including loading trucks and trains while providing a combination of short- and long-term logistics to customers.
The cranes are due to be delivered at the end of 2017 and once installed, will stack one-over-six containers high and seven containers wide, plus truck lane, with a lifting capacity of 40.6t. They will be fully electric, driven by a cable reel system.
Boxhunter cranes offer excellent visibility, says Konecranes, due to the advanced video and laser technology of its operating concept.
