The plant, which runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is part of the major manufacturer of high quality packing paper in South East Asia.
It recently turned to Konecranes to provide safety and maintenance knowhow in order to maintain safety standards and to avoid downtime in production. Central to this agreement is that Konecranes service staff are registered on 24-hour call to respond to any issues at the plant within two hours.
SERVICE PARTNERSHIP
The service partnership comprises service for nine cranes from various manufacturers.
Capacities of these systems range from 5t to 35t. The cranes in the contract are responsible for functions such as preparing raw material and handling the finished paper, which includes loading and unloading paper from the winders. These rolls can measure up to 4m-wide and weigh up to 10t.
Cranes at the Kanchanaburi facility, which include Konecranes CXT technology, are also integral to the maintenance and handling of waste and recycling material at the plant, which generates 10 percent of its own energy. Somkieat Dumthong, mechanical maintenance section supervisor at the facility said the manufacturer works with its mechanical and electrical staff "as a team" to optimize production and safety.
SINGLE SUPPLIER
Dumthong explains: "We had too many types of cranes before and too many suppliers of services. Now, with Konecranes as a single supplier, we can focus best on our key priorities, such as preparation of raw material, avoidance of breakdowns and safety.
"In addition to being a supplier of OEM technology, and a knowledgeable advisor on the most suitable advanced crane technologies, Konecranes is the source of spare parts for all the cranes, which is very important. They also assist us with our statutory safety compliance reporting, because safety is very important."
Konecranes’ Kanokphong Bussayadilok adds: "An active preventive maintenance program is crucial to improving safety and productivity, while our vast experience and expertise allow us to tailor preventive maintenance to each manufacturer’s recommendations."
