The cranes will be 6 + 1 wide and 1-over-5 high, and will feature the Kalmar Smartpath container position verification system. They are the same as the 20 RTGs ordered in 2007 by Saigon Newport Company (SNP), which is constructing Tan Cang-Cai Mep.
Cargotec said this previous order had planted the seeds for future cooperation between SNP and itself, as well as presenting it with business opportunities across Vietnam.
“Originally SNP selected Kalmar E-One for its Cat Lai terminal due to productivity, ease of maintenance, more sustainable design and a high standard of services,” said Henry Tan, Cargotec’s sales director in South-east Asia.
“The equipment and our service have fulfilled their expectations and our strong relationship with SNP has become even stronger.
“At the same time we have strengthened our presence in Vietnam by providing a broad range of equipment, technology and services. Vietnam’s container industry is developing as the trade is growing and we are building on the closer cooperation with our customers to play an important role in this development.”
