Street Crane says the £750,000 ($1m) investment will provide up to 30% more production space, and includes new delivery and dispatch areas, improved machine shops and hoist works, and additional design offices. To meet the company’s immediate production needs, it has leased warehouse space and has relocated its parts storage and some CNC machines

Around 20 jobs are expected to be created by the expansion programme, mostly design engineers to support hoist development.

.Managing director Andrew Pimblett said the new facilities will allow Street Crane to grow beyond the 400 cranes and 2,000 hoists it currently produces each year.

“The new facilities will permit better workflow and boost productivity at a time when we are experiencing exceptional levels of interest worldwide in our factory cranes, hoists and crane components,” he said.

Further to the initial investment, Street Crane said it is planning the next phase of development that will see hoist production transferred to a dedicated facility and the introduction of new hoist testing facilities.
