The FAA’s Enroute Support Programme is responsible for transporting heavy antenna system equipment through the utilisation of two semi-trailers.

The components stored in these trailers are required to be moved around both within the trailer and off-loaded. The system will be used to load and unload components such as tools, equipment and antenna pedestal assets weighing up to 2,000lbs.

The majority of the long range radar systems are located in remote areas in which standard material handling equipment such as forklifts are unavailable.

Currently, a chain hoist is installed in each trailer, however, these hoists are underrated for the components now part of the Enroute Support Programme’s mission. The FAA is interested in locating a firm that is capable of providing the crane systems and is capable of the installation of systems, which will need to be permanently mounted inside two Government furnished semi-trailers.

The hoist systems must be capable of operating independently of an AC power source (for example, run off the truck battery). The crane systems will need to be mounted in two Government furnished 27ft semi-trailers.
