Michael Ebbinghaus, president of GTS, said it was seeking to break new ground in the US when it broached the topic of the appointment.

Winkle said the GTS iMAPLA systems may be used in harsh environments like scrap yards and steel mills thanks to features that make them voltage regulated, sealed and maintenance free.

They feature a MMI Plug ‘n’ Play system is designed for on-board diagnostics and ease of troubleshooting.

Enhanced features targeting the North American market include full protection from under-speed, over-speed, over currents or short circuits.

These features, combined with using lifting magnets properly sized to the iMAPLA system may extend the lifecycle of the product and ensure reliability, Winkle said.

Joe Schatz, president of Winkle said technology within the GTS systems is established for use with name brand material handling equipment:

“The new iMAPLA technology is proven, having been installed on many Liebherr, Terex and Sennebogen material handlers around the world. Once we confirmed the research and development that has been placed into the new design, and had the opportunity to test and validate the results, we felt that this would be a great addition to our product offerings.”

“We have a lot of experience with solid state technology and were familiar with the GTS product line, but in order to get a complete understanding of the innovation and enhancements that GTS has put into this product offering, we took the opportunity to talk to end-users in both Europe and the US.”

Schatz added, “We are excited to further support our customers by adding the GTS product line to our aftermarket portfolio.

The system is small enough to place anywhere on material handling equipment, representatives say.

Mark Volansky, director of sales for Winkle Industries, said, “On top of everything else they have the ability to saturate the magnet quicker, resulting in faster cycle times and increased profitability for our customers.”

Volansky said, “We will have inventory on-hand for timely responses. What we are looking at here is really the 2nd generation of GTS solid state magnet controls. It is more robust and ready to take on the rigors of the North American marketplace.”
