A 10-tonne LH double-girder overhead crane from Yuantai Crane has been delivered to a logistics warehouse in Oman, addressing the facility’s need for efficient heavy lifting. This custom-designed crane features a double-girder bridge and an electric wire-rope hoist, tailored to meet the specific demands of the customer’s operations, which include handling large steel modules, machinery parts, and palletized goods.
The logistics and warehousing facility faced several challenges, primarily due to the increased lifting requirements exceeding the capabilities of their existing cranes. The new crane was needed to manage loads up to 10-tonnes, cover a wide span within the warehouse, and reach tall storage areas. Additionally, it was essential for the crane to handle a variety of load types, including heavy crates and prefabricated panels, while improving efficiency and safety compared to manual hoists and forklifts.
Yuantai Crane’s engineering team collaborated with the customer to determine the crane’s specifications. Key design elements included a 10-tonne electric wire-rope hoist mounted on a motorised trolley, dual-speed or variable-frequency drives for adjustable lifting and travel speeds, and safety features like overload protection and emergency stops. The crane was customised to fit the facility’s layout, with considerations for span length, hook approach, and bridge clearance.
The 10-tonne LH crane incorporates several features that enhance its suitability for logistics operations. The double-girder box frame provides additional strength and stability, supporting heavier loads and larger spans compared to single-girder designs. The electric wire-rope hoist, driven by a three-phase motor, offers smooth lifting capabilities, while the motorised trolley enables the crane to reach any point over the warehouse floor. Dual lifting and travel speeds ensure quick positioning and precise control.
Rated ISO A4 for moderate duty, the crane complies with FEM/ISO standards for design and safety. Its welded steel structure, finished with shot-blasted epoxy paint, ensures durability and ease of maintenance. The crane’s adaptability allows it to handle a wide range of loads, from heavy steel crates to prefabricated modular sections, efficiently spanning the facility’s width.
The overhead crane’s design optimizes floor space utilization, allowing forklifts to operate beneath it without obstruction. This setup reduces the need for multiple smaller cranes or manual handling, cutting operational costs and time.
Yuantai Crane completed the production and testing of the crane on schedule, with assembly and commissioning conducted by their installation team in Oman. The crane is now operational, set to enhance the logistics facility’s handling capabilities and efficiency.
